    Posh ready for reinforcements

Fans of Peterborough United can expect to see some new faces in the coming weeks, with the club confirming they are actively searching for at least one new defender.

Hotly tipped centre-back Ryan Bennett signed a contract with Norwich City in January, a deal which included the unusual clause of the Championship club being allowed to pick a Canaries player to take out on-loan in return.

The Posh still appear to be vastly short of defensive cover however, and Sky Sports have revealed that Ferguson Junior is looking towards the English top flight in order to obtain extra talent for the run-in.

The 40 year-old boss has used this market to his advantage in the past,  specifically with his father's club Manchester United. Ryan Tunnicliffe's temporary spell at London Road being a recent example of this, sometimes it pays to have friends (or parents) in high places.

Darren Ferguson did confirm though that no deals will be negotiated until at least Thursday, with the international break still in full swing-

"If it is going to happen it won't be until Thursday at the earliest," Ferguson told the Peterborough Evening Telegraph.

"It is a matter of waiting on a couple of internationals at the clubs we're dealing with getting through their games this week. But I'm not going to panic about it. Craig Alcock will be fit and can play at centre-back if required."
