      O'Dea-light for Leeds

Leeds United’s promotion hopes have been given a timely boost during the clubs end of season run in, manager Neil Warnock will be reveling in delight that on loan Darren O’Dea is eyeing up a permanent stay at the West Yorkshire based club.

After spending the duration of the season on loan from Scottish side Celtic, O’Dea who will be a free agent in the summer is keen to get regular first team action now he has reached 25 years of age.

Warnock’s men currently sit in tenth position in the Championship with hopes of making the play-offs still firmly alive with just three points separating themselves and sixth placed Birmingham City, and with seven games to go it’s all to play for.

Despite being at Parkhead for six years O’Dea is looking to the future with the Elland Road outfit and has admitted it is up to him to prove his worth and show he warrants a contract.

"Obviously at the end of the season, I'll be looking to move from Celtic," O'Dea said to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

"I suppose it's down to me really (to earn a future at Leeds), but ultimately the manager to decide.

"When I first signed for the club, it was just a case of getting quite small bits agreed, which didn't happen. So I ended up coming on loan.

"I'm certainly at the stage of my career now where I've got family and need to settle down and there's no better place to be than Leeds.

"The manager has had seven games in charge now and we've kept four clean sheets and besides last Tuesday, we've looked very solid and that's down to everyone as a team.

"I think the manager thought when he maybe first came in that he needed to overhaul the whole squad and I think maybe now he's thinking that it just needs one or two tweaks.

"We'll wait and see where that leaves me as I don't know...But obviously, I'd like to stay at a club like Leeds."
