      Holloway rues Shelvey miss

Blackpool manager Ian Holloway is never one to be asked twice when it comes to football matters, however the bubbly and opinionated tangerine’s boss concedes his big mouth could have cost him the re-signing of Liverpool ace Jonjo Shelvey.

Shelvey, who was on loan at Bloomfield road earlier in the season enjoyed a fine loan spell, netting six times in just ten games, and Holloway and co were keen to bring the 20-year old back to Blackpool, however Liverpool were reluctant to let the youngster go back out on loan.

In recent weeks many Championship clubs were touted with a reported interest in the player who has struggled to get game time for the League Cup winners and it was thought Blackpool were favourites to land Shelvey.

Holloway has admitted perhaps he and others at the club publicy spoke about Shelvey a bit to openly for the Anfield clubs liking who he says decided against loaning him out because of the situation.

"Forget Jonjo Shelvey. I don't want to talk about him”. Holloway told the Blackpool Gazette

"The reason we haven't got him is because we were talking about him for months and he was somebody else's player.

"He is on the bench for Liverpool at the moment and they bought him for a lot of money, so well done to them."

Blackpool currently sit 7th in the table and are missing out on a play-off place to Birmingham City on goal difference.
