Wenger believes Poldolski could help Arsenal win title

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes Lukas Poldolski could be the difference between finishing in the top four and being genuine title contenders.
The Gunners have been linked to the German international since the turn of the year, and although Wenger has kept a tight lid on his transfer kitty in recent years he was forced to bring in a flurry of deadline day signings last August after a poor start to the campaign.
Nonetheless Arsenal’s turn around in the Premier League of late has been nothing short of amazing, to be ten points behind rivals Spurs and to be now three points ahead of them shows tremendous character.
But there are still question marks over the north-Londoners goal scoring prowess when talisman Robin Van Persie is absent from the side who has netted an incredible 33 times for his club this season.
With Poldolski expected to make the move to the Emirates Stadium over the summer, Arsenal fans could be licking their lips at a potential deadly partnership the 27 year old could form with Van Persie.
Yes [we want Podolski],’ Wenger told the Daily Mail.
‘We want to add some offensive strikers, because many times people say we rely too much on Van Persie, which is true, but if we can find world-class players, we will [challenge for the title].’
‘I just felt we had two weak periods in the season and you can only afford one'
‘I knew when we were 17th [in August] that we cannot afford any weak periods anymore, so when that happened in January it was very difficult.
‘If you look at the circumstances of the [second] blip, it was down to the fact we had no full-backs. Overall since October, since the team has gelled, we are not on too bad a run.
‘Manchester City have had the opposite; they started in the way we are now. It is difficult for everyone to maintain that.’
