      Vicente is Picture Perfect

Gus Poyet is confident of holding onto Spanish winger Vicente after coming through a tough season of injuries to hit some good form in recent months.

Poyet also believed that if he was to lose the wing wizard then a picture of the Spaniard would have to be put up of him in the dressing room.

He told The Argus: If he goes to a bigger club we will always remember. We will probably put a picture in the dressing room corridor of Vicente but I am not bothered at all about that, I just want him to be playing week in, week out.”

The Brighton manager signed the former Spanish international from Valencia in the summer and it was seen as somewhat of a coup that the recently promoted side could sign someone that had previously been close to world-class form.

He had signed with a record of having a lot of injuries that have slowed him down and made his form fluctuate. Poyet gave him his chance and he is repaying that faith.

Although the Uruguayan was feeling in confident mood in regards to his player he had also not forgotten that if he does play well, interest will obviously surface.

Poyet said: “I’ve got no doubt. I think everybody is checking if he can play every game and if he does he can go to better places, no doubt.

“If that happens it will be because he has done veery well. We cannot stop things happening.

“Of course we would like to keep the best ones but it’s life and we want the best for the players.”
