      Modric waits for Redknapp decision

Luka Modric was the subject of a £40 million summer bid from Chelsea last summer but is now said to be unsure as to whether he will sign a new deal at White Hart Lane until the destination of Harry Redknapp is clear.

The Croatian playmaker is currently one of the most sought after talents in the Premier League but it would take a mammoth offer that only Manchester City can afford for him to move from North London.

A new six year contract could be on the table in the coming months for Modric but he is already tied down to a long term deal and will be in no hurry to rush.

Modric’s manager, Harry Redknapp is the favourite to take over the England job but the FA are taking their sweet time about contacting him. It’s not like the European Championships are in a few months or anything.

It shows that the big stars at Tottenham may want assurances on their manager before they decide they are going to stay at White Hart Line. Modric, Gareth Bale and Rafael van der Vaart have all rumoured to be on their way over the last 18 months but Redknapp seems to be keeping them happy.

A failure to qualify for the Champions League this season may see a few players heads turned but if they are playing Champions League football with Tottenham, with or without Redknapp it would take a big offer to persuade the North London club to part with their biggest stars.
