United target a double dose of midfield starlets

It is said that this hasn’t been a vintage season for Manchester United and that their weakness is still in midfield, even Patrick Vieira believes that bringing Paul Scholes back is a sign of weakness.
Well if that is weakness the rumoured plans of Sir Alex Ferguson to bring in Eden Hazard and Javi Martinez from Lille and Athletic Bilbao respectively will certainly be strength.
If Ferguson is able to lure both of these players to Old Trafford it will be seen as a huge coup even though it could potentially cost them over £50 million in transfer fees.
The disappointment in European competition for Ferguson this season should boost him into strengthening his ranks despite having faith in the likes of Tom Cleverley and Paul Pogba, something else is needed.
Ferguson was spotted watching Lille against Lyon a couple of weeks ago and Hazard was the player he had apparently been watching and after the two walk overs that Bilbao dished out to United, he knows what Martinez could do, including covering at centre back.
Martinez looks like a Premier League player. He is over six feet tall and could definitely handle himself on a wet and windy Tuesday night at the Britannia Stadium.
The season started with Anderson and Cleverley striking up a good partnership in midfield but injuries have derailed that. Phil Jones has been tried and Giggs and Park have also played in the centre. The best pairing at the moment is Carrick and Scholes but it would be a bold move for the wiley Scot to bring in two of Europe’s biggest talents.
