Wijnaldum Next on Newcastle Shopping List

Alan Pardew is once again rumoured to be looking to find another continental bargain this summer according to the Star on Sunday.

The Newcastle boss is hoping to lure the young Dutch international midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum away from PSV Eindhoven and into the Toon Army set up.

It is reported that the £10 million rated 21 year old would be a replacement for potential outgoings in Yohann Cabaye and Check Tiote who themselves have been linked with big money moves elsewhere although it is clear Newcastle will not sell them on the cheap.

Erik Pieters, the PSV left back is another target of the Toon Army this summer but this is not new, as the Star on Sunday believes that interest in Wijnaldum has been kept under wraps.

Pardew has done very well shopping in a market that is usually inflated. The signings of Cabaye, Demba Ba and David Santon have all been hits at the Sports Direct Arena. Add to that Papiss Cisse, the signing from Freiburg in January and it is safe to say they have done well for themselves.

With big clubs reportedly interested in most of Newcastle’s outstanding performers this season, the summer months will be a test and will test Mike Ashley’s resolve but if more bargain shopping can be achieved this summer then Alan Pardew will be hoping that his team go from strength to strength.
