      Sir Alex coy on Scholes

Manchester United manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, says he has not yet discussed the possibility of the former England international prolonging his stay at Old Trafford past the end of this season.

Having retired at the end of last season, Paul Scholes made a suprise comeback from retirement in January this year.

The 37 year olds performances at the heart of the Champions midfield cannot be questioned and there has been talk of the evergreen pocket rocket signing a one year contract extension.

The 12 time Premier League winning manager, however, claims not to have talked to the sharp shooter about it: 'I've not approached that subject at all.'

The Scotsman heaped praise on the Salford born player, though: 'Paul can dictate the tempo and rhythm of our game very well'.

'He has the experience which helps him do that and a terrific football brain.'

Ferguson added that the reasons for Scholes retirement was how often he featured: 'He wanted to retire because he wanted to play 50 games, not 25. He didn't think that was enough'.

Could it be that the boyhood Oldham Athletic fan renews his contract and, at the same time, his seemingly ageless partnership with Ryan Giggs, 38, in the United midfield?
