Spurs recall young defender

Tottenham Hotspur have re-called England U-21 international right-back Adam Smith from his loan spell at Leeds United as a precaution following an injury to Kyle Walker.
The England international has been forced to withdraw from Stuart Pearce’s squad for the upcoming friendly encounter with Holland after damaging his ankle during the 5-2 defeat to Arsenal at the weekend.
20-year-old Smith only signed for Leeds from the remainder of the season on New Year’s Eve, but manager Harry Redknapp has taken the chance to bring the youngster back to Spurs.
The Spurs trainee is yet to make a senior appearance for the high-flying North London outfit and has spent most of his career out on loan, more recently with MK Dons and Leeds.
The Championship outfit confirmed the news yesterday after releasing a statement on their official website which read: "Tottenham defender Adam Smith has been recalled from his loan spell at Elland Road in order to provide cover at right-back for the Premier League side's first team."
Smith may well make his first-team debut for Redknapp’s side on Sunday when they host Manchester United as they look to bolster their hopes of Champions League qualification.
