Fernandes hoping to spend QPR out of trouble, again

Tony Fernandes is set to hand Harry Redknapp a large transfer kitty in an attempt to stave off relegation, according to the Daily Mail.  The Queens Park Rangers’ chairman is hoping that giving his team’s manager £20 million to spend will keep them from the drop.

After all, throwing money at the problem worked for them before under Mark Hughes.  Hughes, who was at the club until November this year, spent heavily during the summer and the west London club have one of the largest squads in the Premier League.  There are currently 39 players (including those loaned out) on their books and the wage bill must be enormous.  If Harry Redknapp continues the trend of buying three players for every one that gets in the team then if they do go down the club will be sunk.

Redknapp’s transfer targets are reported to be Yann M’Vila, Loic Remy and Mohamed Diame.  West Ham’s Diame has a release clause of £3.5 million but the other two could cost a combined £17 million and QPR are not the only interested party.  Redknapp will have to be at his persuasive best to snare those targets and at his managerial best to get his club out of their current predicament.
