Coleman extends his stay at Goodison Park

Seamus Coleman, Everton’s Irish right back has signed a new five-and-a-half year contract according to BBC Sport. The Republic of Ireland international signed for the club from Sligo Rovers for a fee in the region of £50,000. Another fantastic piece of transfer business from Everton’s manager David Moyes.
Coleman, who came to the club as a right back, was mostly used as a right winger for his first few seasons at Goodison Park. He has eventually been utilised further back as his defensive awareness has improved and Everton’s squad has been further thinned out by injuries.
Coleman was sent out on loan to Blackpool in the early part of his career with Everton. He enjoyed a very successful time there, helping the Tangerines to win promotion to the Premier League. In total he played twelve games for the Lancashire club and scored one goal.
Still finding his feet in the Premier League he has now played sixty-six games in all competitions for the Blues. Hoping for a long stay on Merseyside and to become a regular for David Moyes’ side and for his country this new contract will be a great boost to the Irish youngster with a bright future.
