Chelsea switch attention to Spanish striker

As the January transfer window looms, the speculation has gone into overdrive and the lights inside that world famous rumour mill are well and truly switched on, with the latest whispers stemming from Stamford Bridge.

Roman Abramovic may have finally come to terms that his ambitious attempts to lure Radamel Falcao to west London may have to wait until the end of the season and the filthy-rich Russian has reacted the only way he knows how; by spending.

As he set his search filter on Football Manager to 'Finishing: at least 18, Heading: at least 15 and strength: at least 14', he decided that Alvaro Negredo was the man he wants to pair up with his golden boy Fernando Torres.

If Negredo was to join the Chelsea ranks and link with his fellow Spaniards Torres and Juan Mata, then Seville have revealed that they would require a deal worth £16m for the 27-year-old.

If a price tag that high was mentioned a number of years ago the fans would have expected a god-like figure to come in and score a couple of goals per game, but these days £16m for a striker who has netted 65 goals in 150 games for his current club, including 11 in 12 this campaign, is quite a reasonable price.

It may also put a smile on that face of the miserable lone-ranger, Senor Torres.
