Fulham look to end Bent's Villa nightmare

The Daily Mirror are indicating that Fulham is now the most likely destination for Aston Villa outcast Darren Bent. Despite the signing of Dimitar Berbatov Martin Jol is still looking to recapture the huge chunk of goals that have gone missing since the sale of Clint Dempsey and he will see Bent as an ideal candidate to add more firepower to his Fulham side.
Its believed that Jol still has funds available to him following what was almost a fire sale in summer that saw Dempsey, Moussa Dembele, Danny Murhpy, Dickson Etuhu and many others all move on. The only stumbling block would be Bent's wages however with the ex England man seemingly unwanted by Villa you would have to hope that he would take a slight wage drop in order to be playing football again rather than getting splinters.
Whilst the signing of Bent would no doubt add something extra at Fulham there are questions over whether a striker is what they need, given how easy they have been to roll over this year and the lack of central midfield options Jol has available to him following the Summer's exodus. Its also unknown whether Bent would be the best option to be partnered with Berbatov, given that neither is exactly accustomed to tracking back and Fulham are already lacking metal as it is.
So whilst a signing of Bent in theory would look a good one on paper for Fulham, Jol needs to think carefully over whether another striker and one in the mould of Bent is exactly what they need right now.
