    Dortmund defender staying in Germany

Borussia Dortmund defender Neven Subotic has signed a new deal at his club ending any speculation that he will be signing for Manchester City in the January transfer window.

The 23 year old has been a long term target for City, United and Chelsea. City were keen on the player when he stalled to sign a new contract but now he has all the English clubs must stay away as Dortmund won’t be interested.

The Serbian international is classed as one of the best defenders in Europe, this is after Dortmund have had such an impressive run in both the league and Champions league.

Borussia Dortmund were in Man City’s group during the Champions league and they got a good look at Subotic they must have been pleased with what they saw and that is why they had been interested in him.

The Serbian’s contract was due to run out in 2014 and now it has been extended to 2016 in hope that Dortmund can keep all the players and maybe aim for the Bundesliga title and a good run in this year’s Champions league.

Subotic is only 23 and therefore he has a long bright future ahead of him in his career.
