Bastos in line for Prem move

A number of premiership clubs are thought to be keeping tabs Michael Bastos after the Lyon chairman hinted that the Brazillian could be available in January as Lyon look to further decrease their wage bill.

Sky Sports report that the likes of Tottenham, Liverpool and Newcastle have had a long standing interest in Bastos and will now step up their efforts to sign him following Jean Michel Austos comments.

All three clubs could certainly find a use for the versatile 29-year-old who can play on the left Wing or at left back.
Despite a return to the starting line up for Jose Enrique Liverpool's other options on the left are relatively sparse with teenagers Raheem Sterling and Suso the only real options aside from the much maligned Stewart Downing.
Spurs on the other hand are blessed with two excellent left sided players on Benoit Assou Ekotto and Gareth Bale, however have often lacked depth on the wings. Bastos will provide cover for the often overused Bale and Assou Ekotto's long term injury has forced Jan Vertonghen out on the left. Spurs fans will be keen to see the Belgian return to his prefered position in the centre and some more cover at left back would certainly help.
Bastos would also slot into Alan Pardew's Newcastle side and the tantalising prospect of him linking up with Demba Ba and Hatem Ben Arfa will excite Geordies more than Cheryl Cole's 2013 calendar.
