Wenger has some contract success at last

Not news of a signing for Arsenal just yet but perhaps better than that is the news that their manager Arsene Wenger has tied down some of his British stars with new contract deals.  Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Aaron Ramsey and Kieran Gibbs are reported in the Mirror to have agreed new contract deals with the club.  The club is also on the verge of securing Jack Wilshire on a five year deal.

Will all of this news entice “contract rebel” Theo Walcott to stay on and commit his future to the Gunners?  Apparently talks have begun with the 23-year-old England international and he will be hoping to agree terms on a contract thought to be in the region of £75,000 a week.  Remember when Walcott first signed a big deal at Arsenal and he said he only wanted to buy a Volkswagen Golf because he didn’t want something too flashy or expensive?  Well I guess those days are long gone and now Theo appears to be saving up to buy Volkswagen itself.

Walcott has been longing to play up front and Wenger must clearly hope that playing him their against Reading earlier this week might be the enticement he needs to stay on at the club.
