      Rafa to cast Lampard aside?

Rafa Benitez appears to be leaving Frank Lampard out in the cold.  With his contract nearing an end and no new contract in sight the Chelsea legend could do with some reassurance.  In that case I would suggest not looking at Sky Sports as they have reported that Rafa Benitez is “offering no guarantees” about his future.

Like an ageing Eskimo left outside to die quietly in the snowy wastelands could Chelsea's interim manager so easily cast Lampard aside?  Quite possibly it seems and that could bring Lampard’s career at Chelsea to an end as soon as this January.

Probably the only footballer with an A* in a Latin GCSE (possibly the only footballer with an A* in any GCSE), the former West Ham player has been at Chelsea for eleven years and in that time he has made 574 appearances and scored 189 goals in all competitions for the Blues.  He currently sits fourth in the all time appearances list and third in the all time top scorers list for the Stamford Bridge club.  The second is an incredible achievement for a midfielder and the first an incredible achievement in an age of continual player movement from club to club.

Regardless of these records drawing a magnificent career at a club to a close is a difficult thing, something that I think only David Beckham so far has managed brilliantly.  Perhaps now is the time for Frank to hide himself under a veil of MLS cash and the gentle easing into the sunset that that league brings.
