Ranieri fancies a bit of Beckham for Monaco

AS Monaco coach Claudio Ranieri has revealed in the Daily Mail his interest in bringing David Beckham to France, well Monaco, but you know what I mean.  The Italian coach who has been at the helm of AS Monaco since the end of May this year is keen to add experience to his squad as his side push for promotion to Ligue 1.

David Beckham or rather Brand Beckham is being looked at for his skills as a player but also for his ability to nurture and become a mentor to the younger players in the squad.   This is a role that many clubs area hoping he will fulfill.

AS Monaco have been one of the most successful teams in Ligue 1, although they currently reside outside of the top flight.  Ranieri has been brought in with the task of resurrecting the club’s fortunes and with the backing of yet another Russian billionaire no doubt he will be expected to gain promotion and then win the Champions League the following season.

Monaco are currently well placed to achieve promotion and with the added experience that Beckham would bring their continued push and the improvement of the squad could also easily be achieved.

I wonder how high the Ligue 2 championship ranks alongside his other honours?  Mind you it’s probably a tougher league than the MLS.
