      De Rossi not going anywhere

Roma’s president James Pallotta has moved to dismiss speculation linking Daniele De Rossi with a move away from the Italian capital club.

He is reported in Talk Sport as saying, "We have absolutely no intention of selling De Rossi.”

This will not be good news for Manchester City as they were hoping to bring the Italian midfielder to the Etihad Stadium.

De Rossi recently signed an extension to his contract at the Stadio Olimpico which will keep him in Rome for another five years and has, in the process, made him the highest paid player in the league.  His contract is reportedly worth €10 million a year.

The Rome club are currently off the pace in Serie A and sit sixth in the league, twelve points shy of leaders Juventus but crucially only four points away from third place which would ensure qualification for the Holy Grail, the Champions League.

De Rossi was born in Rome and has spent his entire professional career with his local team.  Being a one club player is more prized and important in Italy and having recently been given a contract extension which is the equivalent of a lottery win every year he might just be persuaded to see out his career there.
