Vertonghen talks up young Danish prospect

Jan Vertonghen has been talking up his former colleague Christian Eriksen in the Telegraph after he was linked to Tottenham Hotspur. The Belgian defender said,
“Technically he’s one of the best players I’ve played with. He’s left and right footed. He’s always fit. Since he was 17-18 he’s played every game for Ajax and has never been injured. When he gains a little more physical strength he can play in every team. I don’t want to talk for him but he’s a good player and I think a good player can play here.”
Not content with being a top professional footballer Vertonghen is also keen on a career as an agent when he finishes playing. He has picked up a lot already, especially when he says "I don't want to talk for him" but then goes on to talk for him, very strongly. Top work Jan, top work.
Vertonghen played with Eriksen when he was at Ajax and the Danish international midfielder has continued to flourish since then. Last year he was named Danish Football Player of the Year and this season having started every game for Ajax so far (twenty two games) he has scored six goals and provided ten assists.
At the age of 20 he still has much to learn and a long way to go. But if he's as good as the man whose record he broke to become the youngest goalscorer in European qualifictation for Denmark he'll be quite a player. The player whose record he broke? Micheal Laudrup.
