Henry move not on the cards

It has been widely reported that Arsenal legend Thierry Henry was to return to the Emirates Stadium for a third stint during the MLS off season (it's American that's what you have to call it).  However it would appear that he is to break Arsenal hearts again.  The Sun has reported that the move is off.

The 35-year-old striker is currently playing for the New York Red Bulls and their head of global soccer (what an ostentatious title that is) Gerard Houllier has said that he has heard nothing from Arsene Wenger about the possible loan move.  He said, "If Arsene needed him, he would have called me or sporting director Andy Roxburgh, but this is not the case.  I do not think both parties need to have this second comeback. Moreover, he became a dad.  I think he will want to enjoy the holidays.”

Gerard Houllier is suggesting that fatherhood trumps playing football in the Premier League, scoring in front of thousands of adoring fans and getting paid a fortune for the privilege.  Houllier's children must be incredible.

With Arsenal getting back in to a groove, of sorts, with only one defeat in their last seven games Henry might be excused this time.  But surely it's only a matter of time before Henry does return to the club but in a different, non-playing, role this time.  Given Houllier's title someone as reverred as Henry might be returning as Chief Va-Va-Voomer of Intergalactic Football for North London.
