Gomis to the Premier League?

Bafetembi Gomis could be on his way to England according to Canal+. The French international striker who currently plays for Olympique Lyonnais is thought to be on the radar of both Chelsea and Liverpool.
Both teams have Fernando Torres related problems to solve. One is trying to replace the irreplacable, a talented striker who couldn't stop scoring and to help provide backup to everyone's favourite cheating Uruguayan, Luis Suarez. The other is trying to replace the same expensive, talented striker who can't score (or is certainly scoring less than they had hoped) and provide a different type of outlet.
Gomis, who has scored ten goals in eighteen Ligue 1 games this season has never played league football outside of France. He has a great record of scoring at least ten goals a season for the last seven series.
Apparently Chelsea are ahead in the race for his signature and the London club have already begun negotiations with Lyon. Lyon, despite not wishing to lose their top scorer, may be forced to sell if they get an offer they can't refuse as they are keen to reduce their wage bill. Lyon are currently second in Ligue 1, level on points with Paris Saint Germain and Marseille. A tight race for the championship title, not an ideal time to lose your leading scoring.
