A Stanley Park struggle breaking out over Butland

A struggle across Stanley Park is breaking out over England goalkeeper Jack Butland according to the Mirror. Everton and Liverpool are battling to sign the young goalkeeper from Birmingham City.
Lee Clark, Birmingham's manager, has already turned down an offer of £6 million from Southampton last summer and isn't looking to offload the player. However if he has to sell he will be asking for much more money than that. He said, "We would be looking for an even more substantial figure than we were offered in the summer – even though I certainly don’t want it to come to that. Ultimately, it’s down to the board. He’s the future and the type of player I’d rather build my team around.”
The 19-year-old keeper is highly thought of and whilst only making his football league debut in September 2011 he was the first choice goalkeeper for Team GB in the Olympics. He has also started a friendly for the full international team against Italy and in doing so became England's youngest international goalkeeper.
If Birmingham City's takeover bid fails and therefore money becomes tight or if they fail to get promoted Birmingham may find it difficult to hang on to their top stopper.
