Borussia Dortmund rule out Manchester move for striker

The rumours of the Pole-in-front-of-goal making a move to Manchester look to be coming to an end, at last.

Robert Lewandowski’s current contract at the German club is quickly running out and there has been speculation about the striker choosing one of the Manchester clubs as his new challenge.

The fee for a move to Old Trafford has been reported around £12m but City were thought to be ready to use Edin Dzeko as a makeweight to secure a switch to the Etihad.

However, Dortmund chairman Hans-Joachim Watzke is having none of it. In a strong German accent, he told the Daily Mail: "There has been no contact from Manchester City, either about Robert Lewandowski or any other player. There has also been no contact (about him) with any other club."

Well, that clears that up then. City will have to settle for Sergio Aguero, Carlos Tevez, Edin Dzeko and *cough* Mario Balotelli to fire them to glory this season whereas United will only have Robin Van Persie, Wayne Rooney, Javier Hernandez and Danny Welbeck. Does anyone else feel sorry for the unfortunate pair? Me neither.

Lewandowski has netted 9 goals in 15 appearances so far for Dortmund this season, which is good going, but a certain Mr Van Persie will not be feeling threatened.
