      McCarthy not moving on, yet

Arsenal and Liverpool have both expressed an interest in James McCarthy, but Wigan manager Roberto Martinez has said that he is not going anywhere, yet. The Wigan manager told the Irish Independent that McCarthy has "the potential to play anywhere in the world" but Wigan's Spanish manager has made it quite clear that for the time being that place is Wigan.

James McCarthy has been in fine form for Wigan Athletic this season. He has played in every game for the 'Latics in the Premier League and has scored twice. Unfortunately his fine performances are yet to be matched by the rest of his team and Wigan currently sit in 18th place in the Premier League with only three wins in their last ten games.

The 22-year-old midfielder, despite being born and raised in Glasgow, represents the Republic of Ireland at international level and has played nine times for his country. The Scottish Young Player of the Year, 2008-2009, started out at Hamilton Academicals and made his debut just before his sixteenth birthday.  He made the move down to Wigan in 2009 and has played an integral part in their continued stay in the Premier League ever since. When his time does come to move on, Martinez has said he won't stand in his way but I'm certain he'll miss him.
