O'Neil looking to offload Sunderland players

According to reports in the Daily Mirror, Sunderland boss Martin O’Neil is preparing to move on Frazier Campbell and Titus Bramble.

Neither player has featured consistently for the black cats this season and if O’Neil is to ensure his side beat the drop then he needs to free up space in his squad to add the kind of quality players who can help Sunderland survive.

Apparently Frazier Campbell, who was surprisingly capped by England under Stuart Pearce in February despite only scoring six goals in four seasons, will be made available for £1.5m come January and several championship sides are believed to be interested in a potential deal. If Campbell is really that desperate for a move to the second tier he would probably just as well hang around in the north east until next season with his current side’s survival hopes hanging by a thread.

Defender Titus Bramble is in a similar position with O’Neil and whilst he is out of contract in the summer his sky-high wages could be a potential stumbling block to any January move. Although with Steve Bruce, the man who put such a defensive liability on those sky-high wages in the first place, in charge at Hull City I’m sure he would be prepared to break the bank to sign his old favourite to shore up the tigers defence.
