    Brendan would like to Michu

According to the Sunday Mirror, Brendan Rodgers is lining up a move for in form Michu as a contingency to if he misses out on Daniel Sturridge.

Liverpool are currently starved of good attacking talent to support main man Luis Suarez and Rodger’s is intent on utilizing the January transfer window to the full with respect to adding firepower to his side.

If true, the preference of Sturridge over Michu represents an interesting judge of talent from the Liverpool manager.

Michu has been in scintillating form thus far, scoring 13 goals in 18 appearances, with many touting him as the signing of the season. On the other hand, Sturridge has been starved of football since the summer, and though injuries has scarpered his availability, he has never come close to matching the level of performances at Chelsea which Michu has reached at Swansea.

Even so, the likelihood of Rodger’s going without either is high. Rafa Benitez would only consider letting Sturridge go if adequate strikers were brought in as replacements, and Michael Laudrup has already put a £30m price tag on Michu’s head to scare away clubs.

The January transfer window is a notoriously difficult time to sign players, and if Liverpool is serious about bringing in a new striker, chances are a bullet will need to be bitten.
