Drogba puts an end to Chinese whispers

Didier Drogba has commited his future to Chinese side Shanghai Shenhua according to the Metro.  Thus ending the speculation that he may move back to England.

After a tricky start for Didier in Shanghai he is hoping things will be different next season.  'I hope next season I can start again from the beginning with Shenhua, because I joined relatively late, I didn't prepare with the team early in the season, so our results were not very good.'

Shanghai Shenhua finished 9th in the Chinese Super League last year with Drogba playing 11 times and scoring 8 goals.  With Drogba and Anelka both playing regularly for Shenhua and them still finishing in 9th place you've got to wonder how bad their defence was and how good the other teams were.

With managerial unrest last year and disputes in the boardroom which nearly led to his contract being cancelled because the club couldn't pay his wages the former Chelsea star must be hoping for an easier ride next season.  However when you're getting paid well over £200,000 a week to play football in a country where people are routinely imprisoned for speaking their mind how bad can things really be?
