Buffon eyes Juventus contract extension

Gianluigi Buffon has been part of the furniture in Italian football for as long as I can remember and is set to extend his stay for even longer.

Veteran is a word solely invented to put next to Gigi’s name on his birth certificate and he is already thinking about a new deal which will allow him to play his final years of football between the sticks for Italy’s Old Lady. 

 Buffon has over 600 club appearances to his name, with another 123 with the Azzurri but is still best known for his floppy hair and long, horse-like face, something which will be fondly missed when he decides to hang up his saddle.

The big Italian’s current deal is due to run out at the end of next season and the club have agreed a verbal contract, something that is almost as flimsy as Peter Crouch’s hold-up play.

Loyalty is scarce in the game so it is refreshing to see an individual committing so much of their career to one club and not following the lure of money that would have been flaunted in his direction.
