      Barcelona want Roma star

Miralem Pjanic, despite having a girly name, has caught the eye of the Catalan giants.

Although Barcelona have accused their El Clasico rivals of spending too much and not growing their own talent recently, they want to poach a youngster from Italy’s capital-club, Roma.

Pjanic is having a miserable time in Italy, earning millions of euros in wages for playing the game that he loves whilst basking in the Mediterranean sunshine in his spare time. Sounds horrible, right?

A move to Camp Nou could be on the cards for the 22-year old as he has been frozen out since the gaffer, Zdenek Zeman, came into the club and decorated it with his masterful tactics and attacking philosophies. Tito Vilanova sees the midfielder as a perfect fit for what the Blaugrana normally employ in their squad and could offer the €15m that Roma are looking for.

The ability to pirouette on a 5 pence piece- check, under 6ft tall- check, nifty football in tight areas- check, a flair name-check, a decent goal-scoring record, a mass of international appearances and a technical capacity that should not be possible in a player so young? Check, check and check.

I think the real question is whether or not he would get a sniff in the first-team, what with the three musketeers (Andres Iniesta, Xavi and Lionel Messi) occupying the attacking triangle at Barca.
