Scolari and Guardiola touted as favourites for Brazil job

BBC Sport has reported that Luiz Felipe-Scolari and Pep Guardiola have emerged as early favourites to land the newly vacant Brazil job.
With just under two years until the 2014 World Cup, the dismissal of Mario Menezes makes the managerial opening at host Brazil’s national side one of the most sought after job in football.
Big Phil is somewhat of a national treasure in Brazil – most notably for the World Cup title he led them to in 2002. Scolari has an impeccable record at international level, after also enjoying success as manager of Kuwait and Portugal, and is currently out of work.
For Guardiola, speculation is a little more unfounded. Since his departure at Barcelona in the summer his name has been linked with every top team under the sun. Though Brazilian newspaper Lance claim that he would accept the role, Brazil federation director Andres Sanchez effectively put out the fire by saying it made “no sense to look abroad”.
It’s doubtful the Brazilian FA will be looking to take a risk with their managerial decision considering they will be the focal point at the 2014 World Cup. From that perspective, a betting man would be wise putting his money on the man who knows how to lead a successful international campaign.
