Moyes considers move for Gordon

David Moyes is having a look at ex-Sunderland goalkeeper Craig Gordon, according to the Liverpool Echo. The Everton manager is keen to add to his squad and to encourage competition in his team. “We need competition in all areas and that extends to Tim Howard in goal, absolutely,” Moyes told the Echo. “Everybody has got to make sure they are at the top of their game. We have got to make sure we are not continually giving away things, making mistakes that are leading to goals which cost us." Goals that mean Everton have drawn five of their last seven games.
Gordon, who is currently out of contract and therefore available for free, became the most expensive British goalkeeper when Roy Keane bought him for Sunderland from Hearts in 2007. But he has struggled with injuries over recent seasons and is currently without a club as he was released by Sunderland before the season started. He is still struggling with a knee injury and he has said that his main concern is becoming fit and then he will begin his search for a club. Apparently there are several teams interested in the Scottish keeper and with him available £9 million cheaper than before I'm sure he'll find a new club easily enough.
As ever David Moyes has to look in the players equivalent of the bargain bin in order to populate his squad. However, recently, he's found Steven Naismith, Thomas Hitzlsperger and a bag or broken biscuits so even by his standards he's doing well this year.
