Merseyside battles for Real Madrid youngster

Reports from Italy are suggesting both Liverpool and Everton are keen to sign Russian hot prospect Denis Cheryshev from Real Madrid.
In spite of only featuring in Real Madrid B games thus far, the 21-year-old winger has impressed enough to earn a call-up from Fabio Capello to the Russian national side – making his debut in this month’s friendly with USA.
Everton have previously had a €6 million offer turned down for Cheryshev – suggesting there is much promise from Mourinho for the youngster who reportedly considers himself "more Spanish than Russian".
With competition fierce in the Real Madrid squad and Cheryshev still yet to break into the first team, it’s likely that Los Merengues will reluctantly let him go – but the question is for what price? With €6 million already turned down for a player who is yet to appear in a top level football game, chances are one of the Merseyside sides will have to pay over the odds to acquire his signature.
That would very much place the ball in Brendan Roger’s court. Liverpool is well-accustomed to take risks on young players in the form of substantial transfer fees.
On the other side of Merseyside, the Everton board are known to be a more frugal bunch and would likely prefer to spend their well-earned cash on more established talent.
