Rodgers expects young starlet to sign long term deal

In a similar way to how getting a new toy car (change for girlfriend, FIFA game etc. as applicable) is the best thing ever and you want to keep it forever and ever and ever for about the first five minutes it is in your possession, Brendan Rodgers has claimed his current flavour of the month will stay at Liverpool for the long term.
According to the BBC, Rodgers expects Raheem Sterling to soon commit his long-term future to the Anfield club.
The 17-year-old has made a searing start to his Premier League career as well as making his England debut last week.
The ex-QPR starlet has 18 months left on his current deal, but Rodgers insists that he will be at the club for the long-term as he wants to become a 'great' at Anfield.
Sterling has reportedly been linked with a move to Arsenal in the past, despite securing himself regular first team football, but Rodgers has nothing but praise for the attacker and his burgeoning interplay with Luis Suarez.
Rodgers said: “He has been given an opportunity here this season and he is thriving on it and enjoying the work. The kid has been brilliant. We just have to nurture that.”
