Lambert "not looking to sell" Bent, much

Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert has insisted to the Daily Mirror that he is not trying to push Darren Bent out of the nearest door at Villa Park.  He told them  “I’m not actively looking to sell him."

Since Lambert arrived Darren Bent has appeared only six times and scored twice for Villa in the Premier League.  Three of those appearances were from the bench.  In the same period of time Christian Benteke (Darren Bent's arch-rival and nemesis) has played nine times and scored twice in the league.

Admittedly Darren Bent was coming back from an injury and has very recently become injured again, but surely after not only being removed as club captain but also removed as line-leading, fan-loving, headline-grabbing, main danger man Paul Lambert is adding insult to aforementioned injury.  This can only mean one thing; Darren Bent will soon be looking for a new house somewhere near another Premier League club.

Whilst Benteke has started his career at Villa well, clearly it is better to have two strikers happy and playing rather than one, especially when your team has only scored ten goals in twelve league games and you're at the wrong of end of the league table.  However, Sweary Lambert (for more click here) obviously has a plan and it's bound to be better than mine.  Anyone capable of getting Grant Holt almost into the England team has got to be some kind of miracle worker.
