Drogba asks FIFA for special permission to move

Didier Drogba has asked FIFA to grant him permission to move despite the Chinese transfer window not opening again until January 1st, according to BBC Sport.

The Chinese Super League season finished at the end of October and Drogba is keen to be sharp when he represents the Cote d'Ivoire in the African Cup of Nations starting on January 19th in South Africa.

He has apparently been linked with the club where he first came to prominence, Marseille, but I'm sure there will be many clubs across Europe excited about the possibility of securing Drogba even on a short-term loan.  None more so than his previous employers, Chelsea.

Since Drogba left, Torres hasn't emerged from his shadow as many expected and with Chelsea still very much in the hunt at the top of the Premier League the increased fire-power that a fully-firing Drogba could bring would be warmly welcomed by the Stamford Bridge faithful.

Drogba has been in good form in China scoring eight goals in eleven games for his club side Shanghai Shenhua as they finished in 9th place in the league.  I'm sure he'll be desperate to be at the top of his game in an attempt to add the African Cup of Nations to his long list of honours.
