England wideman set to extend Arsenal stay?

And so the interminable Theo Walcott will he-won't he saga could finally be reaching a conclusion.
According to Goal.com, the England international could finally be set to extend his contract at the Emirates after the club made a breakthrough with the players' representatives on his wage demands, as well as his desire to be played in a striking role rather than his current right-wing position.
It appears that Arsenal and Arsene Wenger have finally realised the benefit of keeping hold of their most in-form players. Indeed, after last season's premier goalscorer Robin Van Persie was allowed to run his contract down to the point when selling him to the biggest rivals of the Wenger era became an almost foregone conclusion, Walcott as this sesaon's top scorer despite barely appearing in the starting line-up for the Gunners simply must be tied down.
Rumours have linked the player to a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club in January, but just which European club would fancy the services of Walcott? You certainly can't imagine him playing ahead of a Pedro at Barcelona, or a Robben at Bayern Munich.
So perhaps it is not that Arsenal have made the breakthrough with Walcott, but Walcott who has come to the realisation that Arsenal is the best place for his development.

i do hope this is true but until i see some quotes from either arsenal or walcott him self i wont get my hopes up
We simply must keep him, its as simple as that! No messing about. He must be given whatever he wants. After year on year losing our best players, we must now never let it happen again. It shows weakness to the fans, the players, and most of all to other teams. Time to toughen up and start competing and showing ambition.
