      Rogers keen on Belgian Winger

Brendan Rogers has so far been handed a baptism of fire as Liverpool manager.  Currently lying 14th in the Premier League Rogers’ transfer policy has so far been almost as ineffective as his predecessor.

Expensive transfers such as Joe Allan and Fabio Borini have been fairly unexciting so far this season.  Rogers could now be planning to bring PSV Eindhoven’s Dries Mertens to Merseyside in order to boost his sides attacking options.

The 25-year-old Belgian scored 20 goals in 23 league games last season, which for a winger is no mean feat.  Mertens has also made 14 appearances for his country and is slowly becoming an important part of a Belgian set up that is making a big impression on the international scene.

However at rumoured transfer fee of £9.7 million, Mertens has only played senior football I Holland and Belgium and the Premier League could be a bit much of a step up for him.
