      Blues to activate Falcao clause

Goal.com are suggesting that Chelsea are prepared to meet the £48m release clause of Atletico Madrid star striker Radamel Falcao. The Colombia international has shot to prominence having made a blistering start to the season with the La Liga side, having netted 12 times in eight appearances in all competitions this season.

The Blues are keen to bring in the 27-year-old, with manager Roberto Di Matteo seemingly losing patience with Spaniard Fernando Torres. It has prompted owner Roman Abramovich to dip into his pockets to land the highly coveted front-man.

However, Chelsea will have to act swiftly if they are to land their top target, with big spending Manchester City also keen on the Atletico striker.
