Man City get youngster tied down

Manchester City are on a mission to develop youngsters as well as spending hundreds of millions of pounds on well-established superstars.  The latest youngster to tie down his future to the Blues is Swedish Wonderkid John Guidetti.

The 20-year-old Swedish striker has been at the club since 2009 and has reportedly signed a new contract that will keep him at the club for another three years.  Although other clubs such as Newcastle and Sunderland were apparently monitoring the youngster’s progress, City have clearly seen the talent exhibited by the Scandinavian striker.

Although the thought of a relatively unknown 20-year-old breaking into a Man City side with a host of fully established internationals is perhaps a bit optimistic at this stage, John’s stats from his loan spell with Feyenoord last season makes for very interesting reading.  20 goals from 23 games is certainly not a bad rate of return, definitely one to watch for the near future.
