Next Indian Icon?

Brandon Fernandes could well be cementing his name in history after it emerged that the teenage Indian footballer is due to have a trial with Premier League outfit Reading.

Fernandes, a midfielder currently on the books of South African side ASD Cape Town could well become the first Indian footballer to make a success of himself on these shores, or for that matter, any shore in football.

The move must come as a blow to Blackburn's Indian owners Venky's who promised to discover the first Indian Premier League star.

Remarkably, Venky's not fulfilling a 'promise' won't cause much of a stir in the papers.
