Krul anticipates tough trip to Stoke

Newcastle United goalkeeper Tim Krul has urged his teammates to face up to battle when they take on Stoke City on Monday evening.

Krul, who has made the number one shirt his own this season, admitted that his side will be in for a tough game when they visit the Britannia Stadium - which has become a fortress for the Potters - but will be up for the fight when kick off approaches.

The Dutch keeper told the Chronicle: “You know what you will get at Stoke.

“It’s definitely not an easy game to have on a Monday night.

“We’ll have a fight on our hands, we just have to be ready. We’ll touch on that in training.”

Newcastle surrendered their unbeaten start to the season when they went down to an agonizing extra-time 4-3 defeat to Blackburn on Wednesday night, but will be looking to maintain league prowess and continue their time in the top four.
