Club claims Stoke want their young hotshot

Stoke City are lining up a January bid for Nigerian youngster Michael Uchebo, his club have claimed.

Uchebo, 21, is currently on the books of Dutch outfit VVV Velo, but is out of contract at the end of this season. VVV Chairman Hai Berden has said that the Potters are keen on a move for the striker, but have yet to make an offer.

Stoke have yet to comment on the admission from VVV, but Berden is adamant that a deal could be possible if the transfer is right for all parties involved.

"He has played for several youth teams of Nigeria. Maybe if Stoke City could offer him a good wage the authorities could see a reason to approve him to play in England," Berden told Algmeeen Dagblad.

"A transfer in the winter break would be very interesting for us."

Uchebo has made 37 Eredivisie appearances, scoring five goals. He is yet to make his international debut.
