Monaco defied all the odds to reach the Champions League final, beating both Real Madrid and a Chelsea side – then managed by Monaco’s current coach Claudio Ranieri – over two legs.

    The American takeover

The recent influx of Americans into the Premier League have given us an indication that our friends from across the pond are beginning to take the game they call soccer a little more seriously. Also, the United States is proving to be a popular choice with footballers who want to see out their careers and get paid lots of money (see: Beckahm and Henry).

    Footballing Greats: Thierry Henry (Video)

    Oli G needs some Va-Va-Voom

4 appearances - 0 goals. That is all the papers are focussing on.

Not the fact that Arsenal as a team are streets ahead of where they were last season. This time last year, the Gunners had shipped 10 goals (8 of which occured at Old Trafford - a debut to forget for The Ox), seen their new signing red carded on his debut and barely squeeked past Swansea 1-0. Not to mention that they were heading for defeat at eventually relegated Blackburn the following weekend...
