Frimpong ready to make his mark (Video)

With all the attention on Jack Wilshere’s return to first team action and rightly so after 14 months without being seen anywhere near a football pitch, it’s somewhat gone under the radar that playing in the same Arsenal under-21 match at West Brom having indeed returned in last week’s league cup victory over Coventry was Emmanuel Frimpong.

The League Cup: Not pointless to all (part 2) (video)

Although Arsenal might have a slightly different memory of the competition, they value it in their own way.  Arsenal hold the record for the most runners up medals in the competition.   Between 1968 and 2011 arsenal have reached the final no fewer than 7 times, losing on 5 occasions.  The most recent defeat in 2011 was particularly painful for the Gunners, looking to end their six-year trophy drought against an inferior Birmingham side.

Why England can be a force at Brazil 2014 and prove Charlton wrong

So England’s record goalscorer and national treasure Sir Bobby Charlton believes there is no chance of England’s current side winning or even competing for trophies in the near future and certainly not at the next World Cup in Brazil. His assertion that England “havent got a lot of top-quality players” meaning that “you cannot see it happening in Brazil at the next World Cup” has caused quite a reaction, with many leaping to back up the 1966 World Cup winners’ claims.

Future should be the focus for national team

Fabio Capello stepped down from the manager position last week and for some people that is a big negative going into Euro 2012, and some have even put a cloud over the future of the England side but is there any need to worry about the future?

Who is Arsenal's greatest ever teenager?

“You can't win anything with kids". Yes, we've all heard the line before and every so often Alan Hansen has had to eat his words. Because the truth is these "kids", or teenagers as others would say, are the ones who keep the senior players on their toes, challenging them for places and providing a bit of unpredictability to the team.

    England’s ship without a captain?

The recent allegations made against Chelsea and England captain John Terry have once again brought up the seemingly endless question about who should wear the national team’s armband. With Terry’s credibility and the fitness of Steven Gerrard and Rio Ferdinand in doubt, England may go to Euro 2012 without any of the usual suspects to lead them onto the pitch.

Are We Really Just a One Man Van?

Before I can even answer this question it is only fair that we go back and compare the 2004 Arsenal “Invincibles” to the current squad we have. The 2004 team had players such as Henry, Bergkamp, Pires, Ljungberg, Viera and the mighty Campbell in defence. How many of these players would get into our starting eleven today?
