    Lucky lucky Liverpool

Surprisingly for me, I don’t have that much to say this week. I guess the old thing about “You only sing when you’re winning” doesn’t really apply to me. I only pipe up when Liverpool are playing rubbish or when there’s been some enormous upset. So, you may ask, you got three points yesterday and got through to the next round of the Carling Cup so why are you bothering us?

League Table Prediction (10-1) Part 2 of 2.

Now that the transfer window has slammed shut now until January I have had time to analyse the teams as they stand right now. With that in mind here is part two of my predictions for the final Premiership Table.

With the transfer window having now been and gone, the Premier League season is well underway and already there are a number of players who are catching the eye. These are the top ten players who I think will make a difference this year.

    Michael Owen – The Future

On Wednesday night Michael Owen starred for Manchester United for the first time in the 2011-2012 season, scoring two goals in a 3 – 0 win away from home against Leeds in the Carling Cup third round.

Michael Owen – A Tale Of What Could Have Been

Michael Owen fired us a reminder of his capabilities this week with an impressive brace of goals at Elland Road to see off an admittedly lacklustre Leeds. His record of 11 goals in 12 starts is typical of the man. What is probably airbrushed aside from these statistics is that most of those goals have come against less than solid defences – when Sir Alex Ferguson feels he can risk fielding a striker who can ressemble a passenger more often than not.

    Manchester City host Everton

Manchester City host Everton in the Premierships early game on Saturday with City trying to get their league campaign back to winning ways. The recent history between the two clubs will count for little and despite City last winning a home fixture against Everton back on New Years Day 2007 they will be the favorites going in.

Liverpool get a wake up call from Spurs

This meeting has been called after witnessing the farce of a performance from Liverpool at White Hart Lane yesterday afternoon. To call the performance lame would be both an understatement and a disservice to Harry Redknapp and his team. To cut an unfortunately long story short, Kenny Dalglish’s men were stuffed four goals to nothing by a well-organized, hard-working and dominant Spurs side.

Sorry Sorry Arsenal. Should Wenger go?

So, what can I say? Arsenal score five goals in a game and still ended up losing 4-3. Unbelievable! I think it goes without saying that Arsene Wenger is hanging on by a thread to his near 15 year tenure at Arsenal. How ironic would it be if what transpired to be Wenger's last game as Arsenal manager was a 4-3 loss to the team that he defeated in his first match as Arsenal manager back in 1996?

No place for Gerrard in the current Liverpool squad

Ok, so the headline may be a tad dramatic, as headlines tend to be, but much of the chatter surrounding Merseyside yesterday was the long awaited return of Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard but I'm struggling to see exactly where he would fit in.

    Liverpool-A New Era

Roy Hodgson. Even the name now makes me shudder. Despite being initially pleased with the man who masterminded Fulham to Europe taking charge of the Reds. I can not even begin to think of anything apart from his reign as a shambles. When Liverpool needed a savior along came Kenny Dalglish, the perfect man for the job. Now we find ourselves in September with a new look squad and an impressive start to the season. 3 wins and an undeserved loss to Stoke later Liverpool find themselves 6th and very much in contention. Dalglish has made an impact with strong signings and employing a strong team spirit.

    England’s Poor Travellers

We live in a country where players from far and wide arrive on our shores, looking to make a name for themselves in England. The Premier League is now an eclectic mix, with players from as far afield as the Democratic Republic of Congo and Oman currently plying their trade in the English top tier.
