Lallana Set For Anfield Switch - Why This Represents A Good Signing For Liverpool

The general perception of Adam Lallana is one that is not exactly true.  To many he is regarded as a youngster, as people do not realise the midfielder is actually 26 years of age.  Despite flourishing for Southampton in League One and the Championship, it was only last season that he really made his name as a Premier League player.

Having scored nine top flight goals in an impressive campaign to help the Saints finish eighth, Lallana is now the subject of a move to last year’s runners up Liverpool.  According to the Telegraph, a £25 million fee is what the Reds will pay Southampton for their captain, who recently returned from representing England at the World Cup.  Only receiving the call-up for his Three Lions debut in November, subsequently being named in the squad to travel to Brazil was evidence of his sharp rise to the big stage.

Helping to provide the creativity for which Southampton’s play was lauded, Lallana would be greatly missed by the Saints if he were to leave for Anfield.  Liverpool, on the other hand, would be showing the rest of the Premier League that they fully plan to push on and go one better than last season’s second-placed finish.

With the Reds already featuring more of England’s recent World Cup squad than any other team, signing Lallana would add to that fact and the midfielder would be joining players he has become familiar with this summer.  Having provided such optimism last season only to stumble at the final hurdle, Liverpool’s potential latest acquisition suggests their quest for glory has only just begun.
