Chelsea Forward Rejects West Ham - Why He Was Right To Do So

Romelu Lukaku now has two successful Premier League seasons under his belt and will be looking to make his mark in the first team next season. Having scored 17 league goals for West Brom and then 16 for Everton, I think it is time for the big Belgian forward to be unleashed at Stamford Bridge.

However, there are plenty of rumours floating around regarding his future, including a story in the Mirror suggesting he has turned down West Ham for the second time in as many seasons.

For me it's a no brainer. Why would Lukaku want to play for a side destined for a mid-to-lower half finish next term after two seasons of graft to prove himself?

Everton were chasing a Champions League spot last season and Lukaku was the focal point of their attack - an attack that played slick, offensive football.

West Ham operate a lot simpler than the Merseyside club and I don't think that would help Lukaku develop. The Hammers look to punt the ball into the strikers and pick up the scraps, but Lukaku is an exceptional footballer for a big man and is best with the ball at his feet.

If he has turned down West Ham, then I think he was right to do so.
