Arsenal Set To Miss Out On Striker - Here's Why It's Not A Bad Thing

It's fair to say that Arsenal will be lining up a striker in the summer as they have missed a consistently good front man this time round.

Olivier Giroud has chipped in with goals but is often isolated in attack and doesn't really fit into Mesut Ozil's system of play.

Yaya Sanogo has impressed when he's played but is still young and not experienced enough to lead the line, and Nicklas Bendtner is just... well, Nicklas Bendtner.

As a result, the Gunners have been linked with a few strikers from around Europe and one of them includes Michy Batshuayi. TalkSPORT have reported that Arsenal could miss out on the Belgian star as PSV Eindhoven have moved ahead of them in the race for this player. However, missing out on this player wouldn't be such a bad thing for Arsenal, and here are a couple of reasons why.

Arsenal are in need of a striker, that's a given, but what they really need is a striker that is well established and has plenty of experience at the top of his game in one of the top leagues.

While Batshuayi is cheap at £6.5 million, the Gunners really need to go out and spend a sizeable chunk of their transfer kitty on a world class striker that will give them a fantastic chance at the title next season. He may well be the player that fits that profile in a few years time, but we'll never know right now and that's a risk that Arsenal can't afford to take.

Lastly, Arsenal already have an exciting young striker ready to start for the first team whenever called upon. Yaya Sanogo impressed when he started a couple of games recently and you can't bet against him having a big future. If the North Londoners purchased another young talent, of a similar age, that would definitely halt the progression of either player. That would be unfair on the unlucky talent. It's not worth it for £6.5 million.
